Illini Greats Gardner And Rice Up For College Football Hall Of Fame

Two former Fighting Illini players are up for the College Football Hall of Fame.  Illini greats Moe Gardner and Simeon Rice are on the 2021 ballot.  During his time at Illinois, Gardner was a two-time First Team All-American and the 1990 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.  Rice was a two-time First Team All-American and holds conference and school records for career sacks.  The 2021 class will be announced early next year.  Seventeen former Illini are currently enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
