Ocie (Dottie to some family and friends) Edmonds Wilson, 95, went home to be with the Lord June 27, 2020, at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center.

Ocie was born in Ballard County, Kentucky March 3, 1925, one of eight children born to Eddie and Ellen (Dismukes) Edmonds.  She married AZ Wilson June 14, 1942.  He preceded her in death October 13, 1973.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Louise Piggee; her only son, Rodney Wilson I, a grandson, James E. Stanley Jr.; a great-great grandson, Jason Guerrero-Snell; three sisters, Lillie Wilson, Martha Parham, and Tommy Collins; and four brothers, Horace, Leroy, Eddie Jr., and William Edmonds.

She is survived by four daughters, Lena (Monroe White) Stanley of Galesburg, Mollie (Harry) Patterson of Georgia, Beatrice Farmer of Galesburg, and Maggie (Raymond) Cropp of Galesburg; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Annette Wilson of Galesburg; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Nance Tollerson of New Jersey.

She was a long-time member of Allen Chapel AME Church.  She was a born-again Christian, who loved reading her Bible and listening to her Gospel music.  One of her favorite saying was “If it is not in the Bible, I don’t believe it”.

She worked as a babysitter before working at Gale Products for many years until their closing.  She was very talented and many homes in Galesburg have enjoyed the many different crafts that she made including quilts, specialty cakes, macramé plant holders, dolls, and decorated sweat shirts to name a few.  She was a great cook and her family was blessed to have tasted her delicious egg custard pies and banana pudding.  We were also especially appreciative of her for letting us eat our desserts with our meals!!!  The number one joy of her life were her many grandchildren from the oldest to the youngest and we can’t forget seeing her sitting on the fishing bank on those sunny summer days.

Family, we will never forget the many family dinners and barbeques hosted by this very special mama/granny/grandma/auntie.  Rest in Jesus’ loving arms sweet lady!

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at East Linwood Cemetery.  Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks will be required.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
