A peaceful demonstration was held Wednesday in Monmouth with local residents holding personal signs in support of Black Lives Matter.
Monmouth native and recent Monmouth College graduate Will Best partook in the event and had this comment to say about the support shown from the community on the matter:
“It was absolutely fantastic. I honestly didn’t think we would be getting that many members of the community to show up. It was really wonderful seeing everyone show up. I just wanted to give a quick shout out to the hosts, the people who organized the event. Kaeli and Kelci Shelton, Bailie Koester, and Aisha Arteaga. They were the organizers of the event and it was absolutely fantastic. It was really nice seeing the police department come out and voice their own support for the movement. Other than that, it was really nice for the people that couldn’t march with us, but would stand on the side of the road and honk their horns. It was great to just see the community come together and show support for this,” shares Best.
