Richard A. “Floaty” Hart

Richard A. “Floaty” Hart, age 69, passed away at 9:10 PM on Thursday,
June 4, 2020 at his residence in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born March
20, 1951 in Edina, Missouri, the son of Cletus V. and Eyloe V (Matzka)
Hart. Floaty attended school in the area and graduated from Yorkwood
High School with the Class of 1969. On March 10, 2004, he married Karen
Kay Wise in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she preceded him in death on April
10, 2010. He was previously married to Deb Brownlee. Floaty worked his
entire law enforcement career with the Warren County Sheriffs
Department. He began in 1972 and retired from law enforcement in July of
2005. From 1994-2005, he served the citizens as Warren County Sheriff.
Floaty enjoyed playing cards, poker with his buddies, going to the
casino, and meeting his friends for coffee at Lonnie’s Auto here in
Monmouth. Mostly, he loved being with his grandchildren.

Floaty is survived by two sons; Greg (Mandi) Hart of Sycamore, Illinois
and Adam (Amethyst) Hart of Little York, Illinois, three daughters;
Marcia (Curtis) Difuntorum of Kirkwood, Illinois, Emily Despriet of
Danville, California, and Tracie (Nate) Ary of Bloomington, Illinois,
his grandchildren; Ryan, Logan, Kaylee, Tanner, Taylor, Jenna, Hannah,
Cameron, Hayden, Sterling, Dylan, Ella and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sister, Ann Setser of Kirkwood, Illinois,
brothers; John Robert Hart of Kirkwood, Illinois, Dale (Nancy) Hart of
Monmouth, Illinois, Jim (Susan ) Hart of Kirkwood, Illinois, and Terry
(Janice) Hart, of Kirkwood, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his
parents, wife Karen, and his brother, Wayne Hart.

A graveside service for Richard “Floaty” Hart will be held at 10:00 AM
on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth,
Illinois. Friends may call at the Turnbull Funeral Home all day on
Wednesday, June 10, 2020. The family will be present from 5:00-7:00 PM
that day. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing will be
observed and masks are encouraged. A memorial is being established for
the “Floaty” Hart Memorial Fund for Warren County Special Olympics. For
