Shots Fired in Burlington Leads to Arrest in Henderson County, IL

Reference: SHOTS FIRED – 1500 block of Gnahn Street

On Monday, June 22nd, 2020 at approximately 1:33 pm the Burlington Police Department responded to the 1500 blk. of Gnahn Street regarding multiple reports of shots being fired. Responding officers were provided a description of a vehicle seen leaving the area. Upon officer’s arrival, they located a vehicle matching the description given and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. Officers pursued the vehicle to Henderson Co. Illinois at which time the vehicle stopped. Officers located multiple firearms within the vehicle.

ARRESTED: JODY TERRELL FENTON JR
AGE: 22
ADDRESS: BURLINGTON, IOWA

CHARGES:

  • Des Moines County warrant – Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
  • Des Moines County warrant – Carrying Weapons
  • Des Moines County warrant – Theft 3rd Degree
  • Des Moines County warrant – Failure To Appear for Violation of Probation
  • Multiple Jefferson County Ohio warrants for distribution of Heroin

Jody Fenton is being held at the Henderson County Correctional Center on bond pending a court appearance.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected. There were no reported injuries from the shots fired complaint. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Burlington Police Department was assisted in this incident by the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department, and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department.
