Mr. Thomas E. “Tom” Lovdahl, 58, of Galesburg, Illinois was reunited with the love of his life Alice, at 10:58 am Tuesday June 23, 2020.

Tom was born August 1, 1961 in Monmouth, Illinois the son of Theodore E. and Sarah Eunice Jesso Lovdahl, Sr. He married Rhonda Ketner on September 29, 1979 in Galesburg. He later married Alice Gail Johnson on June 8, 1990 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2018.

Tom is survived by his mother, Eunice (Joe) Beckman of Belvidere, Illinois; children, Shannon (Mike) Hayward of Clinton, Illinois, Tami (Mike) Wilckens of Oneida, Illinois, Jennifer Lovdahl of Deland, Illinois, Angela (Eli) Smith of Peoria and Travis Cannady of Galesburg,; his brother, Gene (Alice) Lovdahl of Belvidere; his three sisters, Karen Chennault and Krystal Graham both of Sharon, Wisconsin and Rachael Clem of Belvidere; his brother-in-law and rock, Steve Johnson of Galesburg; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.. He is preceded in death by his father, his wife, son, Patrick “PJ” Fegan, brother, Timothy E. Lovdahl and grandson, Cyris Cannady.

Tom served his country for 8 years in the US Army.

Tom worked hard and played harder. He worked for Jefferson Smurfit for over 20 years and had currently been working for B. Carlson Trucking for 12 years. He attended Galesburg School and took accounting classes at Carl Sandburg College. Tom was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, riding motorcycles his entire life.  Tom became an avid Cub fan. Tom was truly a family man and gentle giant, he loved every child, grandchild, great grandchild, brother, sister, and extended family. He was known for his special greeting “The Lovdahl Lick”. To say Tom will be missed is an understatement.

Visitation is scheduled for 11:30-1:30 pm Monday June 29, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Military Honors will be at 1:30 pm at the chapel with funeral services to follow. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, seating will be limited and face masks will be required. Memorials may be made to the family.
