Wayne E. Bundy, age 82 of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  He was born September 13, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of James and Lucille Rehling Bundy.  On October 12, 1956, he married Bea Opie.  She survives.

Wayne was a 1955 graduate of Stronghurst High School, where he was active in sports and FFA.  He was also an Eagle Scout.  Earlier in life, he was an ironworker and bricklayer, and then farmed most of his life near Carman.  He served on the Henderson County Board, the Henderson County Farm Bureau Board,  Stronghurst and Southern School Boards, and was secretary for the Carman Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Carman United Methodist Church.  He was an innovator in bringing irrigation systems to the Henderson County area, and won many awards in National Crop Growers Association yield contests.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and supporting and attending his sons, and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a die-hard Cubs fan.  

Survivors include his wife, Bea, two sons, Michael (Debbie) Bundy of Carman, IL, Mark (Angie) Bundy of Monticello, IL, ten grandchildren, Rachael (Shane) Gipe, Seth Bundy, Samantha Bundy, Ryne Bundy, Konnor Bundy, Alek Bundy, Tylor Bundy, Audrie Bundy, Kenzie Bundy, and Dustyn Bundy, and two great grandchildren, Michael and Grayson Gipe.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.  CDC guidelines will be observed.  Private family services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in the Carman Cemetery, with Rev.
