Knox County Election Season Starts with Absentee Ballot Applications Mailing

Share

The Presidential Election Day may not be until November, but the work has
already been started in the Knox County Clerk’s Election office. The Knox County Clerk’s office announced that the mass mailing of absentee ballot applications was completed on July 30, 2020 and they should be arriving in voter’s mailboxes very soon. There were over 8500 application forms sent out to voters who cast a ballot in any of the last 3 Elections in Knox County. “We are encouraging voters that have concerns about the health issues and restrictions that may come as the pandemic continues to consider using the Vote by Mail option for casting their ballot this year.” stated Knox County Clerk Scott Erickson. “We want the voters to know that their safety is very
important to us and we want to make sure that any person who is eligible and wants to vote gets that opportunity either in person or by mail.” Voters who wish to vote by mail should complete and return the application for absentee ballot to the County Clerk’s office. Ballots will be mailed in late September. Voters that live within the city limits of Galesburg will receive their application directly from the Galesburg Election Commission.

There have also been other groups that have started mailing their own versions of the application for absentee ballot in various formats. In order to keep the process as direct as possible, voters are encouraged to return the application provided by the Election office. This direct response will help to avoid any delays that may occur in processing the request.
