Michael D. Tenhaaf, 40, of Galesburg, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born October 20, 1979, in Galesburg, the son of Douglas W. and Vicki L. (Yelm) Tenhaaf.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Vicki Tenhaaf of Galesburg; a sister, Erin (Jason) Stevens of Texas; grandparents, Donna and Milton Yelm and Edna Curry, all of Galesburg; three nephews and one niece.

Michael was a chef, working at several Galesburg area restaurants over the years.  Michael had a kind heart, generous spirit, and gentle soul.  He was always first to help those less fortunate than him.  His generosity carried over in death as he was an organ donor through the Gift of Hope organization.

Cremation will be accorded.  No visitation or service is planned.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Gift of Hope at www.giftofhope.org.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is handling cremation arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
