Sharon S. Chockley, age 77, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Thursday July 16, 2020 at Roseville Care Center in Roseville, Illinois. She was born March 8, 1943 at Carthage Illinois Borning Home, the daughter of Guy Maxine Douglas and Dorothy Lee Davis Douglas. She married the “Love of her Life” Richard H. Chockley on September 16, 1961 in Plymouth, Illinois. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Mrs. Chockely was a graduate of Plymouth, Illinois High School. She was a charter member of Rainbow Girls and the first Rainbow Worthy Adviser of Plymouth, IL. She worked at the local grocery store during her high school years. She worked as sales associate in retail as well as a waitress in the early years of her marriage. She then devoted herself to being a full time homemaker with the care of her children. She later cleaned numerous homes in the area. She was very active church member in the churches that she attended. She was a member of Home Extension in Carthage, IL.
Sharon enjoyed cooking, home decorating, flower, and her embroidery work. She made numerous embroidered quilts over the year. One for each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved writing cards and letters. At times, Sharon wrote ten to fifteen a day. On every card, she wrote “Scatter Random Acts Of Kindness”.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She loved trips with her husband to Wisconsin, enjoying seeing the dairy cows, and eating German food, as well as trips to Branson, MO to take in the shows at the theaters. Later travels were more local and included trips to Mt Sterling for lemon ice cream with the “Love of her Life”. She was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Eric (Peggy) Chockley of Stronghurst, one daughter, Sharie ( Bob) Harden of Stronghurst, five grandsons, Justin ( Emily) Harden, Abe ( Ashley) Chockley, Andy ( Lauren) Chockley, Cody ( Laura) Harden, Nathan ( Allison) Harden, eight great Grandchildren, Olive Rose, Elaine Maria, and Adelle Jane Harden, Jacob Henry, Wesley Clyde, and Andrew David Chockley, Jonathan Robert and Daniel Brayton Harden, One brother, Ron ( Paula) Douglas of Longmont Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, and her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Stronhgurst Christian Church and hospice. Memorials may be sent in care of Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst, IL 61480-0299.
