Vote by Mail in Warren County for those Concerned about COVID

Share

With coronavirus a continuing concern as the 2020 general election
approaches, County Clerk Tina M. Conard reminds Warren County voters to consider voting by mail as a safe, secure and convenient option.

The Illinois General Assembly this year passed an election bill that provides many safeguards against the spread of coronavirus in the voting process for the November 3 general election. Chief among them are provisions to increase voting by mail throughout the state.

  • All voters who voted in either the March 2020 primary, April 2019 consolidated or November 2018 general election will receive by mail an application for a vote-by-mail ballot
  • Those who registered to vote or updated their registration between March 18 and July 31 will be mailed an application for vote-by-mail ballot
  • The state’s online voter registration site now allows users to request a mail ballot when they register
  • A vote-by-mail application can also be found on the county’s website, www.warrencountyil.com under the DOCUMENTS tab.
  • A Warren County vote-by-mail application can be hand delivered to the Warren County Clerk’s office, mailed to: Warren County Clerk’s Office, 100 W. Broadway, Monmouth IL 61462 or emailed to wc.reynolds@outlook.com

Ballots will be mailed to applicants beginning Sept. 24, which is also the first day of early voting. The deadline for applying for a mail ballot is Oct. 29. After Oct. 29, voters can still receive a mail ballot by applying in person at the Warren County Clerk’s Office. Ballots must be postmarked no later than
Nov. 3 to be accepted, and properly postmarked ballots will be accepted through Nov. 17.

“We are doing everything we can to provide a safe environment for Warren County voters and election judges, whether it is in the County Clerk’s office or at the polls on November 3rd, remarked County Clerk Tina Conard. “I encourage voters to wear their masks, but can not require it. We will
have shields up between the voting machines in our office and because they are touch screens, voters will wear a glove to use the machine, then discard the glove. Once a voter has used an ink pen we will set it aside to santize. We will keep the counters and machines wiped. As for the polling sites, there will be table shields for the election judges, masks, gloves, wipes, spray, hand sanitizer and face shields for the election judges. At the polls, voters will be required to keep their distance and will mark their ballots and discard the pen. If voters are relunctant to get out and vote, then please complete the vote-by-mail application if you receive one and send it back to us. If you didn’t receive a vote-by-mail application and would like one, please call 309-734-4612. ”
