William F. “Bill” Gustafson III, 67, formerly of Galesburg, died at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Prairie City Rehab and Health Care Center.

He was born December 17, 1952, in Galesburg, the son of William F. and Ruth Elaine (Williams) Gustafson Jr.

He is survived by a sister, Christina Campbell of North Henderson; a sister-in-law, Patricia Gustafson of Galesburg; nieces and nephews, Jesse (Leah) Chandlee of Coal Valley, Logan (Angie) Chandlee of North Henderson, Daniel (Alisha Stark) Gustafson of Galesburg, Natalie (David) Ingle of Victoria, and Ryan (Teresa) Luvaas of Fort Worth, Texas; and several great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Glen, in July 2019.

Bill graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Monmouth College.  He worked as a carman on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for many years before retiring in 2010.  

Bill enjoyed cars and motorcycles, hunting for fossils, music, and working out, exercising and going to the gym.  Bill was a generous man who was always willing to help others.  He loved spending time with his family.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020, in Wataga Cemetery.  Pastor Amy Holman will officiate.  A private family visitation will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or the Galesburg Railroad Museum.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
