Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) moved to its new location at 133 West Jackson Street, Macomb. The move to the larger building was needed in order to accommodate the growing staff. Thanks to the space available in the former Modern Home Furniture building, WIRC has been able to upgrade its food pantry and clothing center in order to better serve people in need in western Illinois.
The food pantry reopened to the public on Tuesday, June 23. The pantry is open to anyone in need, especially those financially impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Clients will be instructed to pick up their food at a table in the lobby. The food pantry’s normal hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
WIRC’s clothing center plans to reopen to the public at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 6. The clothing center provides free, gently used clothing to anyone in need, and it relies heavily on clothing donations from the public. Donors are strongly encouraged to bring their gently used clothing donations during the clothing center’s normal hours of operation of 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, or arrange for an appointment. Unauthorized clothing drop-offs will be discarded.
Due to ongoing concerns about the Coronavirus, all clients must wear a facial covering when meeting with WIRC staff or when entering the office. Masks are free to those in need, by request. CDC social distancing guidelines must be followed during any face-to-face interactions.
Public parking is available across the street from the office in the Cooper parking lot, or at the nearby Macomb Downtown Square.
