Danny L. Simmons, 75, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 8:25 am Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his home.

Danny was born February 12, 1945 in Galesburg, IL the son of Harold and Mary Lou (Landon) Simmons. He was raised and educated in Galesburg, attending Galesburg High School.

Danny served with the United States Army from 1962-1968 stationed in Korea earning the rank as Sergeant.

He married Sharon Kroell in Galesburg, Il on September 19, 1966. They later divorced.

Danny worked as a laborer for local electrical contractors and was a member of local IBEW.

He was a member of the Monmouth American Legion; Galesburg Elks Club and he was a staunch Democrat. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, cribbage, was an avid card player, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his loving companion of 40 years, Joan Larsen of Monmouth, IL; his children, Aaron (Tina) Simmons of Howard City, MI, Jason (Kim) Simmons of San Antonio, TX, Trevor Simmons, Kevin (LeAnn) Murk of Monmouth, IL, and Jerry Murk of Maquon, IL; 9 grandchildren, Julia Simmons, Randall Simmons, Shelby (Jacob) Schwieter, Cohen Simmons, Carter Simmons, Colby Simmons, Reagan (Nate) Nadeau, Grace Murk and Kendall Murk; great grandchildren, Aliegha Simmons and Enoch Nadeau; 6 brothers, Gerry (Diane) Simmons, Mike (Paula) Simmons, Ricky (Linda) Simmons, Jeff (Nancy) Simmons, Kurt (Kathy) Simmons and Harold Simmons, Jr; 2 sisters, Patty Butler and Lynne (Ronnie) Corbin; his sister in law, Debbie Simmons; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived his 2 fur babies, Sassy Sue and Lexi Lu.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kris Simmons.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 pm at

McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation will take place following the celebration. Memorials may be given to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are requested to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
