Donna J. Richardson, 80, of Galesburg, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born August 31, 1939, in Galesburg, the daughter of Sigvard V. and Hazel M. (Sloan) Simkins.

She is survived by her children, Mark C. (Mary) Richardson of Jackson, Michigan and Melody J. (Jeff) Huber of Lafayette, Colorado; five grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, Brandi, Alise, and Briahna Rae; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Dena Mae Simkins of Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Cathy Simkins of Galesburg; her close friend and companion, Bill Baker of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Deanna Rae Geary; three brothers, Ernest, Michael, and Norval Lee Simkins; and a sister, Mary (Steel) Sergeant.

Donna was raised and educated in the Galesburg area. She lived in Boulder, Colorado from 1981 until moving back to Galesburg in 2005. While living in Boulder, she was a nutritional assistant for Boulder Community Hospital. She also worked part-time as an EMT.

Donna enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was an animal lover. She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
