Gordon Wayne Jones, age 79, of Alexis, Illinois; passed away at the home
of his sister, Jan Goulding in Kewanee, Illinois on Friday August 28,
2020 at 2:37 am. Gordon was born on April 25, 1941 in New Boston,
Illinois and is the son of Harvey and Dona Burns Jones. Gordon married
Ruth Humes on September 19th, 1960 at the Mercer County Courthouse. She
preceded him in death on November 5th, 2006. Gordon began work at Agar,
Inc. in Monmouth and was employed 37 years as a lineman before retiring
in 2003. Gordon loved to raise and work with homing pigeons. He also
loved to go hunting, fishing, and go horse back riding. Gordon also
loved to dance which he did locally and most ofter danced in New Boston.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Jones (Chuck Schoonover) of
Galesburg, Illinois and Jan Goulding (Allen) of Kewanee, Illinois. His
son, Gordon W. Jones Jr. (Annette) is surviving in Oquawka, Illinois.
There are six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren surviving.
Gordon’s sisters survive, Margaret Repp of Avon, Illinois and Freda
Manual of Monmouth, Illinois, and one brother, Arnold Jones (Karen) of
Alexis, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his parents, one
brother, Bob “Casey” Jones.

As were his wishes there are no visitation or funeral plans currently
being made by his family.
