Junior High

In junior high baseball, a pair of local undefeated teams hooked up at the Field of Dreams in Monmouth. The ICS Trojans hosted the United Red Storm. The Red Storm remained unbeaten after a 10-4 win over the Trojans. United jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning on the strength of a 2-run single by Sully Wiles. The Trojans would chip away and eventually tie the score at 3-all in the bottom of the 4th on a heads up baserunning move by Clay Casteel. In the very next half inning, ICS took the lead for good with a 3-spot to take an insurmountable 6-3 lead. Ian Leffler’s 2-run double was the big blast in the frame. Another Ian Leffler double in the top of the 6th made it 8-4 and an Elliott Copeland 2-run single in the top of the 7th rounded out the scoring for the Trojans. United was led by Leffler’s 3-for-4, 2 double, 3 rbi night at the plate. Elija Noel, Clay Casteel and Nick Huson had a pair of hits for ICS. Leffler also gets the pitching win for the Red Storm with Aiden Martin getting the save. United is (4-0) with the win and ICS drops to (1-1) with the loss.
