As more people are starting to get out and about, Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer states the department has remained steady. With the legalization of adult use recreational marijuana, no change in traditional arrests has been seen as it is still being bought and sold illegally. As for methamphetamine in the area, Chief Switzer reports the large quantities being seized are not from the local area:

“It is still prevalent out there, unfortunately, and we are doing everything that we can at the street level to try and interdict that. It is not coming from here, the meth labs that we used to see, we are not seeing those as much anymore. Most of the methamphetamine that we see is coming from somewhere else,” says Switzer.
