Pay it Forward Ministries, associated with the Oquawka House of Prayer, offers a weekly curbside food pantry on Thursdays to anyone in the community. Volunteer Nikki Hoffmeister has more:
“We usually have about 400 cars a week. They start lining up about 6:30 in the morning and we will pass out food until it is gone. We do ask that everyone stays in their car. You need to have some kind of box or crate in your trunk. We are not allowed to put anything just in the car, it has to be contained within a container. We and all people driving through if you would please wear a mask. We are 100% run by donation and volunteers. We receive absolutely no funding. We are just a whole bunch of good people volunteering their time and working together to make this happen,” Hoffmeister says.
The curbside food pantry is held at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Monmouth, which will change to the former Review Atlas building on September 10th, and the Oquawka House of Prayer.
