Robert G. “Bob” Adams, 58, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at his home.

Bob was born May 15, 1962 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Robert E. and Nancy Patricia (Arthur) Adams.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1980.

Bob married Ruth Stauffer in Texas and they later divorced.

He most recently worked as a mechanic and had previously worked for Butler Manufacturing until they closed, Farmland, and the Monmouth Country Club.

Bob was a skilled mechanic and could fix anything. He loved all things fast and he especially enjoyed racing motorcycles.

Survivors include his son, Benjamin “Ben” (Christine) Adams of Kirkwood, IL; his sisters, Nancy (Chris Kidder) Cook of Monmouth, Rosemary (Roger Cherry) Rathjen of Geneseo, IL and Lucile (Scott) Brownell of Oswego, NY; his brother, Tim (Bronson Marshall) Adams of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Thomas & Christopher Adams;  several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to the Robert Adams Memorial Fund. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
