Roxie Anna (Gittings) Evans, age 101, of Clarksville, AR, formerly of Lomax, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in Clarksville.  She was born May 21, 1919, the daughter of Clyde and Clara Vaughan Gittings.  On February 18, 1938, she married Oscar Evans in Keokuk, IA.   He preceded her in death on March 23, 1983.

Mrs. Evans lived in the Lomax area most of her life, moving to Clarksville to be near her daughters in 2014.  She lead a wonderful life, which included being a department store office manager, and later operating her own quilting and resale shop.  She was an avid quilter and had completed over 1000 baby quilts, She loved to travel, both in the United States and abroad, but above all, enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her children: LaMarr Evans of Oquawka, IL, LaRoy Evans, and his wife Connie of Brighton, CO, Layne R. “Rick” Evans, and his wife Melanie of Lomax, IL, Roxann Tipton of Clarksville, AR, Carmella Hollaway and her husband, Raymond of Knoxville, AR, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter and son in law, Wynona and Guy Anderson, daughter and son in law, RoEllen and Jerry Andrews, daughter in law, Marilyn Evans, son in law, Tim Tipton, and grandson, Craig Evans.

The family will receive friends form 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday August 31, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.  The family request face masks and social distancing be observed.  A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Carman Cemetery with Pastor Lisa Unger officiating.  A memorial fund has been established for the Carman United Methodist Church.
