The McDonough County Health Department (MCHD) is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 at Courtyard Estates in Bushnell at this time. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) defines an outbreak at an Assisted Living facility as one or more positive case(s) along with others that are ill with symptoms. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols have been implemented. Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were close contacts in an
effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission. Due to Federal privacy restrictions, the release of any additional information on these cases is prohibited.

An updated list of symptoms reported among patients with COVID-19 includes mild to severe respiratory illness with fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of sense of taste and/or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Please remain vigilant about keeping germs from spreading by covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands with soap and warm water, and staying home when sick. If experiencing unmanageable symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, call your primary healthcare provider or McDonough District Hospital’s nurse telephone hotline at (309) 836-1715. The hotline’s current hours of operation are from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday.

As we continue to see our local positive COVID-19 case count rise, it is increasingly important to take precautions to minimize the transmission of illness. MCHD strongly urges all residents to continue to wear cloth face covers and practice physical distancing when in public for the health and safety of the entire community. Cloth face covers, when properly worn, are an important source control to keep asymptomatic individuals from spreading the virus inadvertently to others. Do your part and protect the health of your family and community members!
