“Congresswoman Bustos is a fierce advocate for Illinois … She is committed to advancing important issues related to agriculture, transportation and veteran’s affairs.”

ROCK ISLAND – Today, eleven elected officials from Fulton and Knox Counties announced their endorsement of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) for re-election.

The officials all emphasized Cheri’s understanding of local issues and her consistent partnership at the federal level to improve the lives of hardworking Illinois families.

“I am grateful for the support of each of these local leaders and proud to fight side-by-side with them to rebuild our local infrastructure, strengthen our agriculture economy and improve the livelihoods of hardworking Illinois families,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “This has been a challenging year, but I know that working with these partners in our towns, cities and counties, we can deliver on the issues important to Illinoisans.”

Local leaders announcing their endorsement today include:

·       Pamela Davidson, Chairwoman of the Knox County Board

·       David Amor, Knox County Board

·       Lyle Johnson, Knox County Board

·       Tara Wilder, Knox County Board

·       Susan Duquenne, Fulton County Board

·       Laura Hepp Kessel, Fulton County Board

·       Nestor Madson, Fulton County Board

·       Joe Murphy, Fulton County Board

·       Corine Andersen, Alderwoman, Galesburg

·       Peter Schwartzman, Alderman, Galesburg

·       Quin Mayhew, Alderman, Canton

“As the Chair of Knox County Board, I am thankful we have a representative that cares so deeply,” Knox County Board Chair Pam Davidson said. “Her tireless advocacy for Galesburg as it relates to the lead abatement projects stands out in an already strong record of success in our County. She works across the aisle for the betterment of her citizens, and particularly, fights hard for our families and children.”

“Congresswoman Bustos is a fierce advocate for Illinois and specifically the 17th Congressional District,” Fulton County Board Member Laura Hepp Kessel said. “She is committed to advancing important issues related to agriculture, transportation and veteran’s affairs, to name a few. Congresswoman Bustos represents Illinois’ rural interests and we are lucky to have her represent downstate Illinois in our nation’s capital.”

“As a former member of her city council, Cheri understands the local issues and has been a tremendous partner at the federal level,” said Canton Alderman Quin Mayhew. “I know Cheri is always just a phone call away and that we can count on her to be there.”

“Cheri Bustos has been tireless in her support for Galesburg and Knox County,” said Galesburg Alderman David Amor. “She has protected our citizens by securing funds for lead abatement and strengthened the county through her support of economic development. She looks out for everyone in her district — workers, farmers and business owners. At the same time, she has proved herself a national leader in the House. I heartily endorse Cheri for re-election to Congress in 2020 for the 17th District.”

“Cheri has always been on the side of working people and constantly works to improve our region to give our families a better shot,” said Fulton County Board Member Susan Duquenne. “Folks in Fulton County are well-represented by her leadership in Congress and I give her my full support in this critical election.”

“In Congress, Cheri always works to uplift the stories of hardworking Illinoisans and fights for us every day,” Fulton County Board Member Joe Murphy said. “Cheri’s ability to listen to our concerns and then take concrete action to address them is excellent and we must support her this November.”

Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, rebuild our region’s infrastructure, help Illinoisans weather the COVID-19 pandemic and work to safely reopen, and deliver real results for hardworking families across Northwest and Central Illinois.
