Local Business Owner Asks Monmouth City Council to Consider Outdoor Seating Year-Round

Share

At the recent Monmouth City Council meeting, Sarah Walters, owner of Market Alley Wines, thanked council for opening up outdoor seating during the pandemic and wishes to seek permanent change to the Monmouth Café ordinance to allow for outdoor seating year-round. Director of Information Technology Ken Helms has more:

“City Council opened up some of the outdoor seating restrictions that we had. We do have two ordinances that cover that. One is a Beer Garden ordinance and one is a Café ordinance that would allow for outdoor seating. Neither one of those was really a good fit given the conditions that we were seeing with the COVID-19 restrictions the state put down. What the city did was they created an administrative process to allow for permitting where they can sit outside and do different things like that and that has been extended through October 31st,” Helms states.

Helms informs at the next City Council meeting talk of extending the outdoor seating permit will take place and discussion on allowing the opportunity to continue year-round.
