The Macomb Bomber high school girls golf team is the 2020 West Central Conference team champs. The Bombers also had three girls make the All-Conference team. The tournament was held at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth. Macomb’s team total of 353 was 17 shots better than conference runner-up Quincy Notre Dame’s 370. The Lady Bomber’s Lily Vardaman is the individual champ, shooting an 18-hole score of 80. Her teammate Laine Torrance shot an 83 for second place and Trinity Christensen took eighth with a 94. Ellen Meixner’s 96 rounded out the scoring for Macomb.
The Galesburg Silver Streak boys golf team took fourth out of seven competing schools at the Western Big Six championship meet at Emerald Hill Golf Course in Sterling. The Streaks shot a team score of 350. Quincy is the conference team champ with a 333 and Alleman’s Luke Lofgren is the individual champion with a 74. Galesburg’s Jason Runbom was just a shot behind Lofgren with a 75. Ben Templeton was 11th with an 87, Joh Crowl was 24th with a 92 and Carson Hopping and John Knapp tied for 28th with a pair of 96’s for Galesburg, as well.
The United Red Storm boys golf team beat Stark County 187-216 at Lake Calhoun Country Club. Drew Brown was the meet medalist with a 43. The rest of the scoring group for United included Caleb Copeland’s 44, Nolan Leffler’s 47 and Reed Yung’s 53.
