Mr. Lyle R. Chasteen, 72, of Peoria, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Lyle was born April 24, 1948 to Laurel Roscue and Mary Elizabeth (Young) Chasteen.  Lyle married Karen Jean Thompson on August 4, 1973 in Maquon.  Karen preceded Lyle in death on June 29, 2019.  Lyle is survived by one son, Jason P. (Cindy) Chasteen of Oneida; three brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Ruth of Lincoln, NE, Richard Chasteen and Wayne Chasteen both of Galesburg; and three sisters, Sharon Shanley of Galesburg, Ila Chasteen of Knoxville, and Debbie (Mike) Breeden of Williamsfield.  He is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren, Allison, Alexander, and Adam; and a special friend, Penny Fauser of Peoria. 

Lyle served in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam.  He worked as an assembler and in the paint department at Maytag for over 30 years.  He enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR, and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.  Most of all, Lyle loved being with his family and friends.

Cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Harley’s Pub, 2243 Grand Ave., Galesburg, IL.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Lyle’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
