Marjorie E. Eddingfield Joyner, age 95, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away
at 12:50 pm on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Monmouth Nursing Home.
Marjorie was born on June 11, 1925 in Bald Bluff Township in Henderson
County, Illinois and is the daughter of Edward and Anna Mae Scull
Simpson. She was raised in Henderson County where she attended grade
school and graduated from the Oquawka High School. Marjorie was first
married to Orville Eddingfield in August of 1945 in Kahoka, Missouri. He
preceded her in death She later married James Joyner in Oquawka, and he
preceded her in death also. Marjorie was first employed at the Oquawka
Bank where she did various jobs and was a teller. She later kept the
books of her husband’s business, the Eddingfield Construction Company in
Oquawka. She loved to go bowling at the Oquawka Lanes. She loved flowers
and loved to watch the barges and being by the river. Marjorie loved her
posted notes and loved going to happy hour and socializing at the “Long
Branch” in Oquawka.
Surviving Marjorie is her daughter, Connie Greenstreet and Chuck of
Oquawka, Illinois, two grandsons, Paul Olson and Rhonda and Mick Olson,
both of Oquawka, and four great-grandchildren, Tori Olson, Brad Olson,
Brandon Olson and Paul Olson Jr. all of Oquawka, Illinois. There are
also numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in
her death by her parents, husbands, her daughter Sina Eddingfield, one
brother, and three sisters.
A graveside funeral service is planned on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at
10:30 am at the Oquawka Cemetery. No visitation or viewing is currently
being planned by her family. A memorial fund has been established for
the Oquawka Ambulance Service and can be left at the cemetery graveside
on Saturday. She is in the care of Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka,
