Mary J. Sloat, 88, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 11:40 pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

She was born June 1, 1932 in Gibson City, IL, the daughter of Roy and Hazel (Hinds) Lowery.  She was raised and educated in Gibson City, graduating from Gibson City High School.

Mary married Robert Plackett in Paxton, IL in July 1950 and passed away September 14, 1972.  She later married Loyd Sloat in Fisher, IL in January 1999.

Mary owned and operated Mary Rose Market in Monmouth, IL for several years.  She later worked and retired from Hardees, Monmouth, IL.

She enjoyed bowling, golfing and puzzles.  Mary was a baseball fan and was an Avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include her children, Rhonda (Vern) Reathaford of Monmouth, IL, Nick (Delma) Plackett of Galesburg, IL, Dave Plackett of Chicago, IL, Joe (Patty) Plackett of Springfield, IL and Jim (Terri Sage) Plackett of Monmouth, IL; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Plackett; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Cremation has been accorded.  No services or visitation is planned at this time.  A private family interment will take place at the Glen Cemetery in Paxton, IL.
