OSF HealthCare Expanding Access to Flu Vaccines

Share

Flu season is here and OSF HealthCare is ready.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has made a strong recommendation for everyone who is able, six months or older, to receive the flu vaccine this year due to the prevalence of COVID-19. In support of this guidance, OSF HealthCare is increasing the number of vaccinations available and expanding ways for patients to receive them.

“While there is no current vaccination for COVID-19, the flu shot remains the best defense against the seasonal flu,” said Ramona Tinkham, site manager at OSF Medical Group – Primary Care in Monmouth, Illinois, “Because COVID-19 and influenza can infect individuals at the same time, we encourage everyone to get a flu vaccine. We need everyone’s help to protect our communities during the upcoming flu season.”

Flu vaccinations for adults and children are now available through local OSF Medical Group – Primary Care offices. Specific time slots may be viewed and reserved online, a new feature offered this year through the OSF MyChart app to assist patients with scheduling an appointment. The app allows users to search for and select any office by current location, home address or zip code.

Additional options for securing a flu vaccine are also available. For your convenience, we will offer dedicated drive-up flu shot clinics at 1000 W. Harlem Avenue, Monmouth from

·         1 – 6 p.m. on Monday, October 5;

·         8 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, October 6;

·         8 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, October 13; and

·         1 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14.

Call (309) 734-1414 to schedule an appointment.

“We are prepared,” said Tinkham, site manager at OSF Medical Group – Primary Care in Monmouth, Illinois. “We are going to have plenty of vaccines. We are also reminding everyone to wear a mask while in public, maintain a minimum 6 foot physical distance with others, wash your hands regularly, and don’t go out if you’re sick. Then you will be doing your part to protect yourself and your community this flu season,” she said.
