Mrs. Susan R. Firof, 66, of Macomb, Illinois passed away at 1:45 am Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

Susan was born September 7, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Raymond E. and Ruth E. (Kammholz) Burger. She married Dale E. Firof on May 25, 1974 in Galesburg, Illinois.

Susan is survived by her husband, Dale of Macomb; her son, Christopher (Esther) Firof of Macomb; two daughters, Mindy (Mike) Pilat of Macomb and Trisha (David) Bromwell of Fenton, Missouri; her brother, Bruce F. Burger of North Fort Myers, Florida; eleven grandchildren, with one on the way; one great granddaughter and her dog, Cody. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Susan worked as a book keeper for several industries in the Macomb area. She retired as a social worker, from Bridgeway in Macomb. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg. Susan was an avid camper. Her and Dale spent a majority of their summers in Eminence, Missouri surrounded by many close friends that they considered a second family.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm Monday, September 14, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel with a graveside service to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited seating.
