New head coach Jeff Neal didn’t know what to expect heading into his first season of coaching high school golf but whatever his expectations were, his squad has certainly surpassed those expectations. Prior to the Monmouth-Roseville Invitational on Monday at Gibson Woods, the Red Storm boys began the season with seven straight wins in dual match-ups. The Class 1A Red Storm finished 8th out of 11 teams at the loaded Monmouth-Roseville Invite, which included many 2A schools. United shot a team score of 373, led by senior Drew Brown’s 15th place individual score of 81. Brown was followed by a talented junior contingent of Parker Cassidy (94), Caleb Copeland (98) and Kittner McVey (100) for the four scorers for United for the tournament. Two other juniors, Reed Yung (107) and Ian McVey (109), also were a part of the Red Storm six varsity golfers on Monday. Prairie Communication Sports Director, Shawn Temple caught up with Neal before his team teed off on Monday.
