The 94th Legislative District features two options on the ballot including the sitting State Representative Randy Frese a Republican and the challenger Angel Smith a Democrat. The 94th District encompasses the counties of Adams, Hancock, and Henderson as well as one half of Warren County. Angel Smith says her vision for the 94th District includes funding for businesses battling the Covid-19 crisis, public school budget shortfalls and better wages for employees.
“We started getting funding for small businesses and small farms in Illinois 94th. We are all suffering, especially the small businesses and making sure they get that money and applying for that money to make sure they get that. Giving them all the tools they need to get the money they need to survive through this crisis. Another area would be school funding. I know that Quincy public schools along have several million dollar shortfalls from their funding in the state. That is money they are required to get from the state. This is not extra funding. I will be fighting to get that money to our public schools for our kids. Also, we still have people working and we have a need for good paying jobs with good benefits for our long term financial stability. So I will be fighting for better wages and better workers’ rights,” Smith states.
Smith is born and raised in Quincy, IL and is a retired U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a Russian linguist with top security clearance while stationed in Hawaii and England.
