Big Ten Football Returns This Weekend

Friday, Oct. 23-

Illinois is kicking off the 2020 football season at #14 Wisconsin on Friday.  That is the latest start to the Illini football season in the 131-year history of the program.  The Badgers won’t have fans at Camp Randall Stadium due to COVID-19.  The Big Ten is playing a 9-game conference-only schedule this due to the ongoing pandemic. Saturday, Oct. 24-

Iowa football is gearing up for a season-opening trip to Purdue.  The Hawkeyes and Boilermakers meet in West Lafayette to kick off the delayed Big Ten season.  Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm will miss the game after testing positive for COVID-19. Kickoff-2:30 on Big Ten Network

Indiana hosts #7 Penn State in Bloomington.  Kickoff-2:30 on Big Ten Network

Nebraska will kick off its regular-season schedule at the Horseshoe when the Huskers take on #5 Ohio State.  The Buckeyes won 48-7 last year in Lincoln. Kickoff-6:30 on Fox

Michigan State has not yet named a starting quarterback for its home opener against Rutgers.  Spartans linebackers Luke Fulton and Charles Willekes are suspended after assault charges last month. Kickoff-11:00 on Big Ten Network

Minnesota will welcome #17 Michigan to TCF Bank Stadium in its season opener. The Gophers finished last season 10-and-2. Kickoff-6:30 ABC

Maryland head football coach Mike Locksley has decided on who his starting quarterback will be for the season opener at Northwestern, but he’s not saying. Alabama transfer Taulia Tagovailoa is in the running.   He is the younger brother of Dolphins rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa. Kickoff-6:30 on Big Ten Network
