Local NRCS District Conservationist Cathy Froelich says state cost share funds are building up and surveying is beginning to ramp up:
“If you have issues out there, tillage equipment can’t cover up everything. Remember if you have highly erodible land, in the spring we will come out and be checking those like we do every year. If there is a gully or washout there we are going to expect that to be taken care of in a short period of time because that is just how the policy and requirements are written. Just take care of that stuff now. You can seed rye down right now in the fields if you have a wash area. Go ahead and see that stuff down to rye. Get it covered up for the winter time and that will help you going into spring. Just let us know what your erosion concerns are and we can get out and address them,” Froelich states.
Continuous CRP sign-up is going on now. Meanwhile, deadline for WHIP with the Farm Service Agency is tomorrow, October 30th and CFAP on December 11th.
