Garry E. Walker, age 73, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 11:08 pm
on September 30, 2020 at Generations in Peoria, Illinois. Garry was born
on September 16, 1947 at home in rural Walnut Township, Missouri and is
the son of Harley Eugene and Lucille Ruth Leath Walker. He was raised in
Cameron, Illinois where he attended school and attended Warren High
School. Garry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He
was employed thirty years as a forklift operator for Maytag Company in
Galesburg, Illinois until his retirement in 1997. Garry had a big
garden and loved to garden and tend to it. He loved to go hunting with
his father and later loved to go fishing with his buddies from Admiral.
He is survived by three sisters, Velda L. Shimmin of Monmouth, IL; Karen
S. Reynolds and Dan in Florida; and Ruth R. Nickerson of Monmouth,
Illinois. His long time friend from Maytag, Bill Gustafson, also is
surviving. There are numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews and
cousins also surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents.
As per his wishes, cremation has been accorded Garry and a private
family graveside for the interment of his ashes is being planned by his
family at a later date. A memorial fund is being designated for the
Veterans Administration Clinic in Galesburg, Illinois. To leave a
