Jean Anne Arnold, 78 of Galesburg, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Serenity of Lake Storey in Galesburg.

  She was born November 2, 1941 in Galesburg, the daughter of David and Velma (Jacobs) McMahon.  She married Harold “Jim” Arnold, Jr. in 1989 at St. Louis, Missouri.

  Jean is survived by her husband, Harold “Jim” Arnold, Jr.; two sons, David Allen of Kirkwood and Chuck (and Karen) Allen in North Carolina; two daughters, Ann Schlageter of North Carolina and Dawn (and Robert Craig) Selser of Galesburg; and eight grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Landon. 

  Jean graduated from Galesburg High School in 1966.  She has lived in the Galesburg area all of her life.  She worked as a nurse aide at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville for 20 years, retiring in 2000.  She attended the First Church of God in Galesburg.  She enjoyed her family and cats.  She collected Lighthouses.

  As she requested, cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate her life, her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  There will be no visitation.  Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, facemasks will be required and seating will be limited.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
