Mr. John “Jack” Leroy Brennan, 86, of Galesburg passed away at 2:56 am Monday, October 12, 2020 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Jack was born November 1, 1933 in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Kenneth and Jean (Craig) Brennan. He married Marilyn Corlett on March 14, 1955 in Chicago.

Surviving are his children; Kathy Johnson, Laura (Rob) Fischer both of Galesburg, Jacqueline (Nicholas) Blake of Wauconda, Illinois; Michael Brennan of Galesburg, John P. Brennan of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Kevin Brennan of Galesburg; his son-in-law, Mike Howard of Galesburg; his sisters-in-law, Joyce (Eddie O’Connell) Corlett of Philadelphia and Maura Brennan and nephew, Sean of Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher, Anthony, Jamie, Christian, Noelle, Amanda, Gabrielle, Camille, Allison, Mitchell, Kaman, Ryan and Dakota; fifteen great grandchildren and his special friends, Chuck Lange, Larry Davis, Jim Kern, Gene Mendez and Agha Babanoury. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his beloved daughter, Kelly Howard and his friend, Steve “Amigo” Mendonsa.

Jack was a car salesman in the Galesburg area for many years, working for Oldsmobile, Volkswagon and Toyota. In his later years he began his own business in hotel guest advertising. Jack was of the Catholic faith. He served in the US Army in Korea for two years as Captain.

Jack was full of energy, throughout his life he loved to play cards, tennis, hand ball, golf and go boating. He enjoyed all sports but had a passion for golf and played on many leagues. He enjoyed a good “old” movie, was an avid reader and a “FDR” Democrat.  

Known as a jokester and loved to laugh, Jack was a people person and could talk to anyone. These are qualities that made him a great salesperson and fun to be around. Jack was quite the family man and felt complete when his family was altogether.

Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Friday, October 16, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Military Rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
