Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Oct. 1, 2020

Golf

The United Red Storm boys golf team was at Oak Run for a triangular meet that also included Elmwood and Farmington. United won both matches, shooting a team total of 172. Kittner McVey led the Red Storm with a 42. He was followed by Drew Brown and Nolan Leffler’s 43’s and Parker Cassidy’s 44. The Red Storm girls golfers also got a win yesterday over Class 2A Galesburg 215-218 at Lake Bracken Country Club. United senior Paige McKeown led all golfers in the meet with a 9-hole score of 47. Those were the final regular season meets for both Red Storm squads. The United boys will take part in the Class 1A regional on Tuesday at Valley View Golf Course in Cambridge. The United girls will head to Baker Park Golf Course in Kewanee for their Class 1A regional on Wednesday.

Junior High

In junior high school cross country on Thursday in Macomb, the host Macomb Bomber boys and girls teams split a dual meet against Knoxville. The Macomb boys defeated the Blue Bullets 19-38 and the Blue Bullet girls were victorious 28-29. Macomb’s Kyler Glaue won the boy’s race, with Knoxville’s Carter Johnson leading his squad with a 4th place. Knoxville’s Emmalyn Hensley and Emily King went 1-2 in the girl’s race. Macomb was led by Jacqueline Adair in 3rd and Lorna Brown in 4th.
