Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Oct. 3, 2020

Cross Country

The Galesburg Silver Streak boys and girls cross country teams took part in the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday. Both squads placed 7th as a team. The Silver Streak boys were led by Ben Vasquez in 14th place. Briana Admire was the top finishing Galesburg girl in 20th place.

Swimming and Diving

The Galesburg High School girls swim team beat United Township 95-88 on Saturday at Mustain Pool on the GHS campus. Getting two wins apiece were Sophie Lotz in the 200 yard IM and 100 breaststroke and Molly Pettit in the 100 freestyle and 100 yard backstroke.

Junior High

The ICS Trojan junior high baseball team lost their “unofficial” sectional championship game 8-3 to Bartonville Monroe on Friday night. Monroe scored all eight runs between the 3rd and 4th innings to get the win. Andrew Way had three of the five ICS total hits. Steven Gibbs had a double for the Trojans, as well. Only three of the Bartonville runs were earned as ICS committed six errors in the ballgame. ICS ends the season at (6-5) overall.
