Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Sept. 30, 2020

Cross Country

The United Red Storm boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Kewanee Dunes on Wednesday for a dual match against Annawan/Wethersfield. The Red Storm girls got 2nd, 3rd and 5th place finishes from Bridget Brokaw, Mikaela Robinson and Luci Kane, respectively. The Red Storm boys only had two runners but they finished in 2nd and 4th place, with Hunter Hall in 2nd and Ben McVey in 4th.

Golf

The Knoxville Blue Bullet girls golf team went (0-2) against Elmwood and Farmington at Maple Lane Country Club in Elmwood. The Blue Bullets shot a 242 and were led by Kaci Luptak’s 46. The Blue Bullet boys defeated Elmwood 189-199. Damian Jones led Knoxville with a 45. Titus Cramer shot a 46 for the Blue Bullets as well.

Tennis

The Galesburg Silver Streak girls tennis team lost to Alleman 6-3 in home dual match at Art Fish Courts on the GHS campus. Getting singles wins for Galesburg was Camryn Anderson and Gwendolyn Allison. Those two teamed up for the only doubles victory for the Silver Streaks.

Junior High

The inaugural ICS Trojan junior high cross country season came to an end last night in Farmington. The Trojan girls took 3rd overall against Elmwood and Farmington. Hayden Johnson was the top finisher for ICS with a 12th place finish. Her teammate Lilly Mahoney was right behind in 13th place. Clara Box was 15th for the Trojans.
