Marilyn G. Raymond Huston, 91, passed away at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Knoxville Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Marilyn was born on February 4, 1929 in Hire Township, McDonough County to Roscoe Ivan and Leona (Simmons) Wetzel of rural Blandinsville. She attended Joe Duncan Grade School (1-5) near Fountain Green, Runkle Grade School near Industry and Industry High School for one year before graduating from Macomb High School in 1946. She attended summer school at Western Illinois University, qualifying for an Emergency Teacher’s Certificate. She taught at Walnut Grade School in Hancock County in 1946-47, until she married Richard Lyle (Barney) Raymond on April 4, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Macomb.

Marilyn and Barney were the parents of three children:  Vincent Kay, born February 25, 1948; Vickie Lynn born February 13, 1949; and Timothy Allen born September 10, 1950. She later married Gerald E. “Jerry” Huston on February 21,1998 in Roseville, where they lived until his passing on December 12, 2010.

She is survived by her children Vincent (Sharon) of Monmouth, Vickie (David) of Southwest Harbor, ME, and Tim (Penny McVey) of Roseville; two stepdaughters, Jan (Richard) Brewer of Roseville and Pat Knight (Jay Wilkinson) of Monmouth; two stepsons, Gerald G. (Bonnie) Huston of Moline and David (Lisa) Huston of Dixon; her  sister, Evelyn Yard of LaHarpe; sisters-in-law, Sarah (Jim) Martin of Monmouth, Betty Raymond of Bushnell, Anne Wetzel of Stronghurst and Louise Wetzel of Bloomington.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, who loved her very much: Troy Raymond of Monmouth, Heather Raymond Hauri (Roger) of Peoria, Libby Lloyd Flanagan (Kevin) of Yellow Springs, OH, Morgan Lloyd Korhonen (Adam) of Southwest Harbor, ME; Wendy Raymond Hacker (Rick) of Loveland, OH, Tracie Raymond Lewis (Matt) of Monmouth and Luke Raymond (Emily) of Galesburg, 15 great grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 40 total great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers William Wetzel, Robert Wetzel and Wendell Wetzel, sister Shirley Wetzel Shafer, daughter-in-law Jackie Raymond of Roseville, grandsons Thomas A. Raymond of Monmouth and Jason Richard Raymond of Roseville, great granddaughter Kayley Raymond of Monmouth and great grandson Drew Raymond of Little York.

Marilyn farmed with her husband Barney for 45 years in rural Monmouth. She hauled many loads of grain into the Twomey Grain Elevator at Larchland and also worked with the livestock. 

She enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, and cooking delicious meals for her family, especially for traditional family gatherings. She was well known for her baking, including beautiful pies. She participated in the Larchland Ladies Aide for many years.  

Marilyn was a friend to all who met her.  She had the most giving heart and kind spirit. She was always there to lend a hand whenever needed.  

Funeral services will be Monday, October 26, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at Wise Funeral Home, Roseville.  Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.   There will be no visitation.  Interment will be at Roseville Memorial Park, Roseville, IL Memorials in her honor can be made to the Roseville Fire Protection District and the Memory Unit at the Knoxville Nursing Home.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville is in charge of the arrangements.
