Wind and chilly conditions were the main topic of discussion for the Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter Classic. The United Red Storm girls have won three of the last four LTC championships. Mercer County won the only tournament that United hadn’t won. It was Mercer County that came out on top at Valley View Golf Course in Cambridge yesterday. The Golden Eagles shot a team total of 421, on the strength of having four golfers finish in the top ten individuals. United was 3rd with a 457 and West Central had a nice day, shooting a team score of 446 for second place.
Mercer County’s Callie Siering won the individual title, carding a 95. West Central’s Elaina Fisher and Olivia Hines and Ridgewood’s Madison Lindsey tied for second place with a trio of 105’s. Defending individual champ, Paige McKeown had a tough day and shot a score of 110 for 8th place. United’s Haley Marshall was 5th to lead the Red Storm. West Central’s Allie Strack made the All-Conference team with a 113 for 10th. The top-ten golfers make the All-Lincoln Trail Conference team.
On the boy’s side, Ridgewood won their fourth straight team title with a 366. The Spartans also had the top individual finisher for the fourth straight year. Thomas Bumann shot a 78 for Ridgewood to win his fourth consecutive LTC individual championship. The United Red Storm boys took second with a 377 and West Central was 9th. United’s Drew Brown was joined by his teammates, Caleb Copeland and Kittner McVey to put three Red Storm boys on the the All-LTC team. Brown was 6th with a 91, with Copeland in 8th with a 92 and McVey in 10th with a 94.
