In a special board meeting on Tueday night, the Monmouth-Roseville school board officially accepted an invitation to join the Three Rivers Athletic Conference, starting with the 2021-2022 school year. With Fulton High School leaving the TRAC, possibly as soon as next year, the Three Rivers Conference looked to fill the vacated spot as soon as possible.
In March of 2016, Monmouth-Roseville joined the TRAC for football-only, while competing in the West Central Conference’s North Division for all other sports. The Titans have had some football success since joining the league, tying for the Mississippi Division championship and making it to the quarterfinals of the Class 3A playoffs in 2018.
The TRAC already contains schools that Monmouth-Roseville has been competing against for the past several years in nearly all sports, including Sherrard, Orion, Rockridge and Kewanee. The first three schools, including Monmouth-Roseville, were all long-time members of the Olympic and West Central Conferences. Sherrard, Orion and Rockridge left the WCC before the 2013-2014 school year to join the Three Rivers after three years.
The Olympic Conference ended following the 2009-2010 school year. With joining the TRAC, Monmouth-Roseville ends their affiliation with an ever-changing, and mostly confusing at times, West Central Conference. The Titans were most recently part of the WCC North Division with Macomb, West Hancock, Camp Point Central and Quincy Notre Dame. QND was a member in every sport but football, while Camp Point Central was a part WIVC conference in a football-only capacity, as well.
Monmouth-Roseville athletic director and head football coach Jeremy Adolphson says a move to TRAC will provide stability for Monmouth-Roseville, especially scheduling-wise.
Monmouth-Roseville High School Principal Jeff Ewing says it was a long process to get the invitation from the TRAC but one that he felt was a good move for the Titans and Three Rivers both.
