OSF recognized by the AAC in U.S. News & World Report

OSF HealthCare has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) in the “Best Hospitals” issue of U.S. News & World Report as one of the top health systems in the U.S. for providing top quality care to heart patients in 2020.

OSF HealthCare is one of only 72 health care systems nationwide to be included on this list for 2020. The U.S. News & World Report issue recognizes OSF HealthCare’s commitment to excellent hospital care for heart patients, something OSF HealthCare leaders say reflects the hard work of care teams across the entire Ministry.

“It is an honor to receive national recognition for the work we do every day,” said Darrel Gumm, MD, Vice President, OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular institute. “Receiving this designation absolutely reflects the combined results of our cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, hospitalists, and staff throughout the OSF HealthCare Ministry. It should also serve to reassure patients that they can expect the very best in our heart care, every time.”

ACC’s NCDR is cardiology’s most established, comprehensive registry offering, consisting of eight hospital-based registries and two outpatient registries. Participants are committed to ensuring evidence-based cardiovascular care, improving patient outcomes and lowering health care costs.

“As an ACC quality programs participant, OSF HealthCare has established itself as a leader in setting the national standard for improving quality of care in patients with cardiovascular disease,” said ACC President Athena Poppas, MD, FACC. “The ACC is proud to include OSF as one of the Best Hospitals of 2020.”

OSF HealthCare is an integrated health system owned and operated by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. OSF HealthCare employs nearly 24,000 Mission Partners (employees) in 145 locations, including 14 hospitals throughout Illinois and Michigan.
