Paul Michael Medina, Sr., 82, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Paul was born June 26, 1938 in Galesburg, the son of Cenobio and Petra (Martinez) Medina. He married Esmeralda R. Villarreal on October 22, 1960 in Galesburg. Paul worked at Jefferson-Smurfitt for 44 years retiring in 2000.
Paul is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Esmeralda; one son, Paul Medina, Jr. of Galesburg; three daughters, Anna Medina, Lisa (Steven) Medina-Foshay, and JoVita (Ben Browning, Jr.) Medina all of Galesburg. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Roland Williams, Jr., Monique Williams, Azaria Foshay, Nayana Foshay, Jeff Foshay, Amber Foshay-Kelso, Chris Foshay, Kody Clay, Gage Browning; two great grandchildren, Nyla and Terence Jordan; two brothers, Peter and Juan Medina both of Galesburg; and one sister, Mary Gutierrez of Galesburg. Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Mario, Raymond, and Phillip; and three sisters, Nellie Miranda, Josephine Medina, and Tillie Ojeda.
Paul was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was active for many years coaching various basketball and softball teams in the Galesburg area. He also enjoyed music and played the bass guitar in several local bands.
Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
