Supt. Whitsitt Says United School District to Continue with Four Day In-Person Learning Through November

With the first quarter of the 2020-2021 school year in the books, students that elected for full remote learning in the United School District have the option to return to in-person learning. Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt stated that around 20% of students elected for full remote for the first nine weeks and that some students at the elementary level will be returning for in-person learning. Whitsitt informs at the recent United school board meeting, the board decided to continue through November with the four day in-person learning:

“Overall, I am pleased with where we are at. The numbers in the region and the county are surging and that is concerning so we decided at least for another month, we are going to continue on this course of action with our four day week and our Wednesday remote days. We will still have the 12:30 dismissals and keep watching and seeing how things pan out. Hopefully there is some improvement by November and we can talk about some different things,” Whitsitt says.

Whitsitt also stated that the district is hopeful to bring back the preschool classes to in-person learning in January.
