Sylvia M. Cokel, 65, of Galesburg, IL formerly of Monmouth, IL passed away at 9:00 pm, Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL

Sylvia was born April 22, 1955 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Maurice and Marlene L (Roark) Cokel.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth

 High School in 1973.

Sylvia worked at the Admiral Corporation in Galesburg, Wilson Foods in Monmouth and most recently worked as a guard for the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Henry Hill Correctional Facility in Galesburg before retiring.

She was of Catholic faith.  She enjoyed cooking, photography and riding horses.

Survivors include her daughter, Jamie (Brad) Proctor of Daphne, AL; her sons, Tyson Conard and Darin Conard both of Burlington IA; one grandson, Derek Conard of Burlington, IA; one brother, Gary Cokel of Monmouth, IL; three sisters, Cheri Kiper of Rushville, IL, Brenda Shaw of Monmouth, IL and Laurie Cokel of Birmingham, AL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, October 30, 2020  from 5:00-7:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to the Sylvia Cokel Memorial Fund.
