As social distancing and wearing masks has become a new normal, the University of Illinois Extension has offered numerous webinars addressing various topics to remain connected with the community. Beginning Thursday, October 8th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, they will be offering a weekly six part series on caregiving. Family life educator Tessa Hobbs-Curley has more:
“Over 34 million people in the United States are caring for someone over the age of 50. Individuals have many different disabilities and so that is where that number really comes from. We know a lot of people are staying at home or we want to keep our loved ones at home as long as we can. This series focuses on that overall self-care and the importance of taking care of yourself when you are giving so much to someone else,” Hobbs-Curley states.
The University of Illinois Extension has also launched a new app “Terrific Teachable Moments” that assists parents and teachers to promote positive character development.
