Virtual WIU Homecoming Weekend Oct. 9-10

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University’s Homecoming Part I – a virtual celebration – happens this weekend (Oct. 9-10), with Part II scheduled (tentatively scheduled as in-person events), April 16-17, 2021.

Virtual Homecoming 2020 “Rocky Through the Decades: Purple and Gold Never Get Old” will be held Oct. 9-10. For a complete line-up of events, including registration for the Zoom events, visit wiu.edu/alumni/homecoming.

The schedule for the virtual celebration is:

Friday, Oct. 9:

9 a.m. – Homecoming 2020 Kick-Off video montage (wiu.edu/alumni/homecoming).

Noon – Meet your WIU Alumni Council (Zoom)

Saturday, Oct. 10:

Midnight (all day) – Virtual Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround. This year’s virtual event can be completed anywhere and anytime that day. Choose to run, walk, jog or workout on a treadmill to complete the 5K. Submit a photo of yourself in your WIU gear for a chance to be featured on the WIU Alumni Association’s social media accounts. Visit wiu.edu/alumni/race.php on how to participate and submit your race time. To register without a t-shirt purchase, email A-Association@wiu.edu. Individuals who want to purchase a t-shirt must register at wiu.com/alumni.

10:30 a.m. – Homecoming Parade live on WIU Alumni Association Facebook page and WIU YouTube Channel. See complete details at wiu.edu/homecoming.php#parade, including how to participate in the live drive-by parade.

Noon – Interim President Abraham, WIU Head Football Coach Jared Elliott, WIU football player and WIU football alumnus talk WIU and football via Zoom.

1 p.m. – At-home WIU Tailgate via Zoom. WIU alumni and friends are encouraged to tailgate at home just as if they were in Q-Lot. Be sure to send in pictures of you and your crew celebrating in your WIU gear.
