Beatrice Mary (Zavorski) Szaltis, 68, of Monmouth, IL, formerly of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on November 27, 1951 in Nassawadox, VA, the daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Bradshaw) Zavorski. She was raised and educated in Perth Amboy, NJ and graduated from Perth Amboy High School. Bea later graduated from Monmouth College.
Bea married John C. Szaltis on November 30, 1974 in Des Plaines, IL; he preceded her in death on March 3, 2017.
Bea was a special education teacher for many years at Warren Achievement in Monmouth. She loved her animals and enjoyed playing with the animals at Western Illinois Animal Rescue and crafting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving Bea are two sons; Leonard Szaltis and Joseph Szaltis both of Monmouth, IL; one daughter Sarah (Lucas) Kulp of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are several grandchildren; Alexis Wooten, Jayden Szaltis, Katelyn Szaltis, Mason Kulp, Vada Kulp, London Belle Kulp; two sisters, Elane (Kent) Stegall of Havelock, NC, Josie Hegarty of Browns Mills, NJ; two sister’s in-law, Deborah (Pete) O’Bannon of San Antonio, TX and Sharon Szaltis of Roselle, IL; and Special friends Linda & Dick BeBee of Monmouth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John C. Szaltis.
A private family burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. No public services are planned. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
